The April fighting produced significant lessons learned, especially with respect to drones and counter drone technology. These included the employment of unmanned “kamikaze” loitering munitions by the GNA and HAF, the appearance of handheld counter drone systems, and advanced commercial-off-the-shelf flight components being used to support reconnaissance and surveillance. </div> <ul class="links inline list-inline"><li class="node-readmore"><a href="/index.php/jrnl/art/drone-losses-impact-turkeys-fighting-libya" rel="tag" title="Drone Losses Impact Turkey’s Fighting in Libya" hreflang="en">Read more<span class="visually-hidden"> about Drone Losses Impact Turkey’s Fighting in Libya</span></a></li><li class="comment-comments"><a href="/index.php/jrnl/art/drone-losses-impact-turkeys-fighting-libya#comments" title="Jump to the first comment." hreflang="en">1 comment</a></li><li class="comment-new-comments"><a href="/index.php/taxonomy/term/520/feed" class="hidden" title="Jump to the first new comment." data-history-node-last-comment-timestamp="1632405285" data-history-node-field-name="comment"></a></li><li class="comment-forbidden"></li><li></li></ul> Sun, 10 May 2020 20:39:27 +0000 ZFTWARNING 138157 at http://archive.smallwarsjournal.com RPA Ethics: A Focused Assessment http://archive.smallwarsjournal.com/index.php/jrnl/art/rpa-ethics-focused-assessment <span>RPA Ethics: A Focused Assessment</span> <span><span>SWJED</span></span> <span>Wed, 04/17/2019 - 11:46am</span> <div class="field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field--item">To a large extent, the question of whether remote warfare waged by RPAs is ethical depends on if one believes riskless war is dangerous, destructive, and overly easy. The ethical issues of asymmetric risk, moral hazard, and destructive behavior are difficult considerations to face, but necessary to reconcile. Ultimately, despite these concerns, the RPA is an ethical instrument of air warfare which leaders should certainly take advantage of, if they do so judiciously as they should with any weapon.</div> <ul class="links inline list-inline"><li class="node-readmore"><a href="/index.php/jrnl/art/rpa-ethics-focused-assessment" rel="tag" title="RPA Ethics: A Focused Assessment" hreflang="en">Read more<span class="visually-hidden"> about RPA Ethics: A Focused Assessment</span></a></li><li class="comment-forbidden"></li><li></li></ul> Wed, 17 Apr 2019 15:46:25 +0000 SWJED 119448 at http://archive.smallwarsjournal.com 2 New Weapons for Drone Warfare – Part 1 of 2 http://archive.smallwarsjournal.com/index.php/jrnl/art/2-new-weapons-drone-warfare-part-1-2 <span>2 New Weapons for Drone Warfare – Part 1 of 2</span> <span><span>SWJED</span></span> <span>Sat, 03/16/2019 - 11:19am</span> <div class="field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field--item">As America’s Army prepares for a conventional war and develops multidomain doctrine, new technologies will be developed. However, there are several places where existing technology can be used to fill gaps that have appeared as the Army transitions. This is especially true for urban combat and drone warfare. Here, I propose 2 new platforms that can be adapted from existing technology to answer the changes brought about by the mass introduction of drones onto the modern battlefield. In Part 2, I will address urban combat separately.</div> <ul class="links inline list-inline"><li class="node-readmore"><a href="/index.php/jrnl/art/2-new-weapons-drone-warfare-part-1-2" rel="tag" title="2 New Weapons for Drone Warfare – Part 1 of 2" hreflang="en">Read more<span class="visually-hidden"> about 2 New Weapons for Drone Warfare – Part 1 of 2</span></a></li><li class="comment-forbidden"></li><li></li></ul> Sat, 16 Mar 2019 15:19:58 +0000 SWJED 117387 at http://archive.smallwarsjournal.com Micro-UAV Augmented 3D Tactics http://archive.smallwarsjournal.com/index.php/jrnl/art/micro-uav-augmented-3d-tactics <article data-history-node-id="105830" role="article" class="article teaser clearfix"> <h2> <a href="/jrnl/art/micro-uav-augmented-3d-tactics" rel="bookmark"><span>Micro-UAV Augmented 3D Tactics</span> </a> </h2> <footer> <article> <drupal-render-placeholder callback="masquerade.callbacks:renderCacheLink" arguments="0=4" token="2JcDkyvoNdz7AbcUTZXDTgfSvABuLH-TUc0jYOzfCs0"></drupal-render-placeholder></article> <div class="author"> <span>Tue, 09/25/2018 - 1:29am</span> </div> </footer> <div class="content"> <div class="field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field--item">Written as a tactics, techniques and procedure analysis, this paper attempts to extend the notion of 3D tactics in the context of new and emerging technology.
