Major Michael Murray II is the Chief of Training at the Counterinsurgency Training Center—Afghanistan (CTC-A). He is an infantry officer by trade and has served in Iraq in 2003 as a Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) Platoon commander and 2007 as a company commander where he conducted extensive Civil Affairs Operations. Following on from his company command he served at School of Infantry East, where he helped develop Combat Hunter and Combat Policing for the US Marine Corps (USMC). He currently serves in an individual augmentee assignment from Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) where he is the Light Armored Reconnaissance Advocate. He was deployed to CTC-A in Feb 11.
