Small Was Journal is pleased to announce the addition of Michael L. Burgoyne, Irina A, Chindea, Max G. Manwaring, and Robert Muggah as El Centro Fellows.
The Small Wars Journal-El Centro Fellows are scholars and senior practitioners studying insurgencies, criminal insurgencies, crime wars, and the crime-terror nexus with an emphasis on Latin America. The new cohort of fellows brings significant operational and academic experience to the initiative. Lieutenant Colonel Michael L. Burgoyne is a US Army Foreign Area Officer with experience in the Americas (Mexico City and the Andes); Dr. Irina Chindea is an Associate Political Science at the RAND Corporation in Washington, DC; Dr. Max G. Manwaring is retired Professor at the US Army War College and a retired US Army colonel; and Dr. Robert Muggah co-founded the Igarapé Institute in Rio de Janeiro where he serves as research director and is executive director of the SecDev Group.
