Dr. Shanthie Mariet D'Souza is Research Fellow at the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS), National University of Singapore. Her research interest and expertise includes -Transition and Prospects for Long term Stabilization of Afghanistan; Regional Dynamics of the Afghan insurgency; Politics of Aid, Development and Security in Afghanistan; United States Counter terrorism policy in South Asia; Terrorism and Strategies in Counter terrorism; Security Sector Reform; Civil-Military Relations; Great Power Politics; Media and Gender in counter terrorism; Strategic Communications; Countering Violent Extremism; Non State Armed Groups and Armed Conflicts in South Asia; Water and Resource Conflicts in South Asia; Conflict Management, Prevention and Transformation; India’s foreign, aid and security policy ( Jammu & Kashmir, Left wing extremism and North East India). Among her most recent published work is an edited book titled Afghanistan in Transition: Beyond 2014?, co-edited books on Perspectives on South Asian Security (2012) and Saving Afghanistan (2009). She has conducted field studies in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir and India's North East.
